The program is available to low and moderate income homeowners in Berkeley Heights, Clark, Cranford, Fanwood, Garwood, Hillside, Kenilworth, Mountainside, New Providence, Roselle, Roselle Park, Scotch Plains, Springfield, Summit and Westfield. Several municipalities, Elizabeth, Linden, Plainfield, Rahway and Union, have housing rehabilitation projects independent of this program.
The Union County Home Improvement Program can assist you with the replacement of substandard heating, electrical and plumbing systems, structural repairs, repairs to correct code violations, lead based paint remediation and stabilization measures, energy saving measures such as insulation, new windows and storm doors.
Like the Home Improvement Program described above, the Senior Home Improvement Grant is available to eligible Union County residents to assist with home rehabilitation. The grant is capped at $5,000.00. Unlike the Home Improvement Program, the grant does not have to be repaid.
